Terms of use

Draft for the closed playtest, October 2026. [CONFIRM: run through a reputable terms generator and, if the budget allows, a lawyer before launch.]

Tiltmate is a free chess game where you and your opponent sabotage each other. It's run by Joshua [CONFIRM: full legal name or business name, and country]. Questions: [CONFIRM: contact email].

Who can play

  • You must be 13 or older.
  • If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
  • We don't collect birth dates. You confirm your age when you first play online.

Playing as a guest

  • There's no sign-up. Your games and streaks are tied to a guest code stored in this browser.
  • If you clear your browser data, you lose that guest unless you moved it with a "continue on another device" code first.
  • Don't share your transfer codes: anyone with one can take over your guest.

Fair play

  • No chess engines or outside help during a game.
  • No offensive nicknames. We may change or remove a nickname at any time.
  • No stalling, abuse or deliberate disconnects to annoy other players.
  • Bots are always labelled as bots. We never pass a bot off as a person.

If you break these rules, we may suspend your guest. Use the Report button if someone else does.

The game may change

This is a playtest. Rules, cards, prices and streak numbers can change, and we may reset records. Your games may be used, without your nickname, to balance the game.

No purchases yet

The playtest has nothing to buy. [CONFIRM: before ads, the Founder Pack or Pro arrive, add payment, refund and ad terms here.]

No warranty

Tiltmate is provided as it is, with no promise that it will always be available or free of bugs. [CONFIRM: limitation of liability wording, and governing law and courts.]

Changes to these terms

We'll update this page if the terms change, with the date at the top. If you keep playing after a change, the new terms apply.
